An uptrend is lows that keep stepping up and highs that keep breaking out. When that stops, the labels change before most people notice.
A swing high is a candle whose high is above the highs of the bars before it and not exceeded by the bars after it. A swing low is the mirror. Swing strength sets how many bars on each side: Standard is 5 and 5.
Each swing is compared with the previous swing of the same kind. A high above the last high is a HH, below it a LH. A low above the last low is a HL, below it a LL. Within 2% of an ATR it's an equal high or low.
A swing is only confirmed once the bars after it have closed, so on Standard the newest swing appears 5 bars late, at its true bar. Marks never move after they appear.
The optional size filter skips swings that didn't travel far enough from the last opposite swing, measured in multiples of the 14-bar ATR. Use it to keep only the swings that matter on a noisy chart.
