Floor pivots are what pit traders worked out before the open: the average of yesterday's high, low and close, and the range stacked above and below it.
The pivot is the average of the prior high, low and close. R1 and S1 mirror the prior low and high across the pivot. R2 and S2 sit one full prior-day range from the pivot. R3 and S3 are further out, for days that run.
The optional central pivot range adds TC and BC around the pivot. Traders often read a narrow range as a sign of a day that moves, and a wide one as a day that rotates.
The levels are fixed for the whole day once it starts. They don't repaint, and the same formula gives the same numbers on any platform that uses the same high, low and close.
